Debra Opri Kidnapps Money

I mentioned a couple of days ago that Larry Birkhead was going to come out of this whole non-payment of legal bills fiasco smelling like a rose. I have just proven correct!

Apparently Debra Opri pulled a fast one on Larry Birkhead, and instead of passing along money he earned giving exclusive interviews to Access Hollywood and BravoTV, she instructed Larry's agent and NBC to put the money in her client trust account. And then never gave it to Larry, and then had the nerve to send a bill to Larry and then sue him for not paying, even though she has his money already and he can't use it to pay her.

Confused? Me too. All I know is that Larry is totally vindicated for not paying his bill and Opri comes away from this looking really, really bad!!

Opri Sues Birkhead.

Debra Opri has filed suit against Larry Birkhead for his unpaid legal bill of over $600,000.

Debra Opri wants to force binding arbitration under the terms of a contract in which she agreed to represent Birkhead in September, according to the lawsuit filed in Superior Court.

Opri was Birkhead's lawyer in his paternity dispute with Anna Nicole Smith, over Dannielynn. It was ultimately proven that Dannielynn is Birkhead's biological daughter and he now has custody of her. Back in April Opri served Birkhead with a bill for $620,000.

On his website, Larry Birkhead makes this cryptic statement:

BILLS: I HAVE NOT MADE ANY COMMENT REGARDING AN ATTORNEY'S BILL. I HAVE REMAINED SILENT ON THIS ISSUE AND RELATED ISSUES IN THE PAST AND WILL CONTINUE TO DO THE SO IN THE FUTURE.

Of course, that statement has been up on his website for quite sometime, so I guess he's sticking to his guns and not talking to Opri about it either!.

I can't really believe that Opri is suing Birkhead over this. I understand that she wants her money, but she could come to some sort of agreement with him, after all, Opri has received incredible publicity from this case, and she couldn't buy that kind of publicity if she wanted to.

UPDATE: Larry Birkhead released an official statement to TMZ:

Despite their filings, both Ms. Opri and her attorney received notification making them aware that I would be out of the state of California taking care of my daughter until the conclusion of an upcoming June custody hearing in the Bahamas. Although at this time, the public is not aware of the unbelievable circumstances which led to me firing Ms. Opri, the only question at the end of the day is, how much money will Debra Opri be paying me? Thanks to the efforts of my Bahamas attorney, Emerick Knowles, I am fortunate enough now to be spending time with my daughter, Dannielynn.

A)Larry is going to come out of this smelling like a rose - I can just tell

B) How come everyone is now releasing their official statements directly to TMZ? Lohan just did that and now Larry?

Anna Nicole's Will is Filed

Howard K Stern got around to filing Anna Nicole's will today in a Los Angeles probate court. It's still the wacky will that left everything to Daniel, but an addendum has been added listing her assets as $710,000.

I don't know what all this means, whether Dannielynn will end up with it all, now that Daniel is dead, of if Larry Birkhead intends on pressing forward with the pending law suit for Anna Nicole's share of the Marshal money.

I hope that Dannielynn gets everything in the will so she has a nice nest egg. I'm sure she'll be entitled to the royalties of all things Anna Nicole well into the future.

Larry At the Barnstable Brown!

Larry Birkhead stepped out on the weekend for the Barnstable Brown party and the Kentucky Derby and by all accounts had a good time - although I do think he looks a little tired in this photo - being a new dad is hard work. Larry was returning to the place where he first met Anna Nicole in 2004.

Birkhead, when asked how it felt to return, replied, "It's a great charity,
a great event, a great time. Although I don't really have energy ... I wanted to
make a special point to be here, not only to give support to charity but also to
the memories I have here that I share with Anna Nicole and our first encounter
and ... " And, with that, he started to cry.

Poor guy. It must be so overwhelming for him. Dannielynn was a home with Larry's family while he was at the Derby, and he says that he's been very busy changing diapers, and generally getting used to being a full time dad. Bless his heart.

All Things Larry Birkhead

The Eagle Has Landed...

Larry Birkhead and his daughter Dannielynn have arrived in the US. When they landed at the airport in Louisville, Kentucky, they were greeted by lots of media in SUVs and helicopters flying overhead. The media trailed them all the way to Larry's sister's house!!

Larry was overcome by emotion upon arrival and had to compose himself before he spoke to the media.

Dannielynn is really cute and the video is very touching, but I have to say - Larry! learn how to hold a baby on your hip. Trust me, it's so much easier and you'll have your right arm free to do stuff with. Hopefully his sister's will show him how it's done.

I wonder what Anna Nicole would have thought of all of this?

Larry and Dannielynn Head Home!

Access Hollywood will have the homecoming on their Wednesday show!.

Which leads me to the next piece of Larry news: Page Six is reporting that Larry Birkhead and NBC have a secret $1 million deal for Larry's ongoing story. No kidding. That's why Access Hollywood and Bravo have had Larry's story exclusively since Anna Nicole died! I don't blame him one bit for selling his story. He needs some money while he's not working and people want to hear his story!

And in even more news Larry has said that he's considering a life of anonymity. HA! I don't think he's going to get it! Larry says "A lot of people are calling. There's a script for a movie, some TV, an entertainment correspondent for a show, things like that. Maybe I'll just go off into the sunset with my daughter. I don't want to live under the microscope like Anna.

I want to make a difference for my daughter. Maybe we'll live a quiet life by the beach, or go back to where I'm from, or find a place to start new. I want to take a few months off to get to know my daughter and for her to get to know me."

Breaking News: Larry Wins!!

A Court in the Bahamas has just dismissed Virgie Arthur's appeal to stop Larry Birkhead leaving the Bahamas with Dannielynn and has also charged her $3,000 in fines! Ha ha ha ha. Woo Hoo.

Larry Birkhead is now free to have Dannielynn's birth certificate changed to reflect that he is her father, not Howard K Stern, and then get her a US passport and head home.

Larry Birkhead Free Bring Dannielynn to the US

Breaking News: A Judge in the Bahamas has decided that Larry Birkhead can take Dannielynn home with him to the US, as soon as he wishes, on the condition that he return to the Bahamas on June 6 for the formal custody hearing.

That's great news for Larry!! I only have one question - has Dannielynn's US passport been fast tracked in the Bahamas so she can leave with Larry? No one is even mentioning the passport!!

Apparently Larry wants to leave with his daughter in the next few days.

Of course Vergie Arthur kicked up a stink, but it looks like she's not going to get anywhere with her crazy demands.

Give Up, Vergie

Vergie Arthur has filed papers in the Bahamas, trying to become Dannielynn's guardian ad litem. What??? Give up Vergie, the only way that you even have a small chance of becoming Dannielynn's guardian is if the paternity test reveals that Dannielynn's father is neither Birkhead, Stern or Prince Von Zsa Zsa. Opri Tries To Blind Us With Lawyer Talk

Debra Opri has lashed out at the media and whoever leaked the information about Larry Birkhead's legal bills with this:

"One can only imagine from whom and for what purposes these stories were started. I cannot comment on unauthenticated documents which were disseminated to the media under suspicious circumstances, and which are covered by the attorney-client privilege. I can assure you, however, that all of the fees and expenses incurred on behalf of Mr. Birkhead were reasonable, necessary, and appropriate, given the complexity and magnitude of this very high profile case that was litigated in two different states and a foreign country. Out of respect for Mr. Birkhead, I cannot comment further at this time."

Whatever, Debra!! In other words, the whole story is true. Opri, you can't get out of this one, the cat's out of the bag.

And in other fantastic legal news, Howard K Sterns pathetic attempt to stop the Dannielynn paternity hearing by filing an appeal has totally failed. Stern now has to pay $10,000 in legal fees to the Bahamas Courts and to Birkhead's Bahamian lawyers, basically as a slap on the hand for filing a frivolous appeal. This means that we could find out as early as tomorrow who the father of Dannielynn is, when the hearing continues in the Bahamas. (source).

Howard K Stern is in serious need of a job.

Birkhead Keeps Fighting

Larry Birkhead just came out of a courthouse in California with a big smile on his face, reports TMZ.


Birkhead's lawyer, Debra Opri, said she was confident that Stern would be made to come to California, and she also said that Stern "can't hide behind a fake birth certificate" and that his "feet will be held to the fire."

It's unclear to me if this means that Howard K Stern has to bring Dannielynn with him for testing as well, or exactly how Stern will be forced to appear, unless he's charged with something and extradited?

Ron Rale, attorney for Stern, did admit that private meetings have been held between Birkhead and Stern, but no agreements have been made.

Debra Opri and attorneys for Howard K Stern will be appearing on Larry King Live tonight
