Grey's Spin Off Details!

ABC has finally released a press release with some eagerly anticipated Grey's Anatomy spin off info!

Description:

Grey’s Anatomy executive producer Shonda Rhimes combines the heart and soul of television’s top-rated drama with exciting new faces in a sun-drenched new location to create a drama with a very different vibe.
It’s an intimate portrait of the choices and changes we make in our search for happy lives. Following a failed attempt at reconciliation and two disastrous affairs, neonatal surgeon Dr. Addison Forbes Montgomery craves a new relationship and journeys to Santa Monica to seek advice from her med school friends, Naomi and Jackson. But she finds her idealized view of their achievements – successful marriage, 14-year-old daughter and a highly successful health cooperative – doesn’t match reality.
Jackson’s success as a TV health guru pushed him to divorce Naomi and now he’s lonely. Fertility specialist Naomi wants love, but she doubts their boyish surfer/receptionist is the answer. The rest of the Oceanside Wellness Group staff has their own life issues. The sexy alternative medicine doc is a widower masking his grief with one-night stands. The gynecologist who doesn’t know a thing about women had his car stolen by this week’s Internet hookup. And the therapist doubts she’s doing any good at all.
Fortunately, together they’re a formidable medical team doing cutting-edge work. Working with them, Addison realizes that moving to Southern California and joining her friends could be the right prescription for her own life. Starring Kate Walsh (Grey’s Anatomy), Tim Daly (Wings, The Nine), Amy Brenneman (Judging Amy), Chris Lowell (Veronica Mars), Merrin Dungey (Alias), Paul Adelstein (Prison Break), and Taye Diggs (Day Break, Kevin Hill). It’s a warm, funny, deeply affecting character

Taking it Just a Bit Far

I love Grey's Anatomy, I really do. I am not an 'original' watcher, instead, I got hooked this summer when they showed season 1 in reruns. Then, as soon as season 2 came out on DVD, I ran to my local Best Buy and bought it. I spent the next 7 days in front of my t.v. and watched every stinking episode. An addict was born. I love the show, I never miss it on Thursday night, then on Friday morning I read the episode write up on Entertainment Weekly followed immediately by Grey Matter, the Grey's writer's blog. Oh, and I have a special play list on my iPod that is exclusively songs featured on the show. Having said all that, even I think this is taking it just a bit too far:

Yup. Your eyes are just fine. That is the latest new glossy to hit news stands: The official Grey's Anatomy Magazine. A subscription can be yours for only $39.95 which includes 4 issues, a year book, and a "special" (whatever that means). Thanks, but I think I'll pass.

Grey's Anatomy Spin Off!

The Wall Street Journal is reporting that ABC is preparing a spin-off to the hugely popular series, Grey's Anatomy. The spin-off reportedly will focus on Dr. Addison Montgomery-Shepherd, McDreamy's ex-wife and neonatal surgeon played by Kate Walsh. The pilot may run as soon as this May and will be written by Shonda Rhimes who is a total genius. I really hope it does well. Spin-offs are tough. The only great ones that come to mind are Lavern & Shirley and Fraiser. Kate Walsh is fantastic so we are definately routing for her.

Late Night TV Round UP

Grey's Anatomy - Is Meredith Dead?

I can't believe that they would write Ellen Pompeo out of Grey's Anatomy. This can't be real! Shonda Rhimes, what are you thinking?

I think the last scene with Meredith waking up and seeing Denny and Blown up by a bomb guy from last season is a clue that she will eventually wake up. She just has to.

If she doesn't, it's really quite unthinkable - no more souful looks from McDreamy, no more whiny voiceovers, no more bad hair days, no more wacky conversations in elevators.

Meredith is Christina's person!!!

What will we do if she dies??????

Trouble in Grey's Anatomy Land

You know how when you are so mad that you almost cry and then the fact that you are going to cry about it makes you almost cry even more? That was Katherine Heigl when she spoke to Access Hollywood Tuesday night. Heigl blasted her Grey's Anatomy co-star Isaiah Washington after his outburst at the Golden Globes Monday. In the press room, Washington for some reason decided to try and defend himself against reports that he used a homophobic slur towards c0-star T.R. Knight. After a reporter questioned the cast about the fight, Washington blurted out:

"No, I did not call T.R. a faggot. Never happened. Never happened."

Heigl spoke out against Washington on Tuesday night stating:

"I'm going to be really honest right now, he needs to just not speak in public. I'm sorry, that did not need to be said, I'm not ok with it."

Heigl also made it clear that her loyalties are firmly with Knight stating:

"I don't think he [Washington] means it the way he comes off. But, T.R. is my best friend. I will throw down for that kid. I will beat you up. I will use every ounce of energy I have to take you down if you hurt his feelings."

Yikes. It certainly looks like this story is not going away anytime soon and the bitch of it is that if Isaiah Washington would have just kept his mouth shut at the Globes, it would have; in the public eye anyway. Grey's Anatomy creator Shonda Rhimes and the producers have a lot of work ahead of them to spin this one right. Look out Washington, you may just get written off the show.
