And leader David Miscavige believes that in future, Cruise, 44, will be worshipped like Jesus for his work to raise awareness of the religion. A source close to the actor, who has risen to one of the church’s top levels, said: “Tom has been told he is Scientology’s Christ-like figure. “Like Christ, he’s been criticised for his views. But future generations will realise he was right.”Cruise joined the Church of Scientology in the 1980's and has made no secret of his involvement and devotion to the church since that time. It has been rumored that he has been recently trying to recruit Victoria and David Beckham to the religion, and Cruise is not shy about sharing his views on Scientology and how they relate to medicine and psychiatry, as was evidenced last year in a very public spat with Brooke Shields and Matt Lauer, over Shield's use of medication for post-partum depression.
All his spouting of Scientology, couch jumping, rumoured Scientology "silent birth" for wife Katie Holmes and daughter Suri, and three-ringed circus November 2006 wedding, have done nothing for Cruise's messiah image, only made his whole life seem like a mystifying joke.
My only question is, if Tom Cruise is the new Jesus , who does that make Katie Holmes?
