Barack Obama in '08?

Democratic Illinois Senator Barack Obama put an end to speculation about whether or not he was interested in being the Democratic nominee in 2008 by announcing on Tuesday that he had established an exploratory committee for a presidential run.
Obama's popularity over the last year has skyrocketed. He has charm, charisma and is an incredible public speaker with broad appeal. His experience, or lack there of, Obama is only 2 years into his first term in the Senate, is going to be one of his hurdles. That and the fact that he would be this country's first African American president. Is America ready? I, for one, would certainly like to think that we would vote based on the issues and not on race but that remains to be seen. Obama has a long road ahead of him before he gets to that point.
On his website Tuesday, Obama stated "Today, our leaders in Washington seem incapable of working together in a practical, common-sense way."
Can he do it? He is going to need to move quickly as John Edwards is beginning to attract endorsements and if Hillary Clinton decides to run, her fundraising efforts will have her rolling in the money overnight. We will soon see just how far his rock-star status will carry him.

On a lighter note, did you see him and his wife on Oprah? He was fantastic and if that appearance didn't scream "I'm going to run!", I don't know what would have!
