On Monday we revealed that Richard Gere was burned in effigy in India for kissing Shilpa Shetty, a Bollywood star, in public. Now Gere has been charged with three counts of obscenity!!!

I still think this is all a bit extreme, but then again I haven't got a clue who Shilpa Shetty is. Obviously she is very modest, but you wouldn't' really know it by that picture!!
Lawyers accused Gere and Shetty of committing "an obscene act" in a public place, says the AP, an act that shocked the conservative sensibilities of the Indian population. Residents of several Indian cities burned effigies of Gere after he took Shetty into his arms and kissed her several times (on the cheek) during an AIDS awareness event in Mumbai.
