Tonight Bravo's reality series Real Housewives of Orange County 2 premieres its second season. This is reality TV at its best. The "Real Housewives", Vicki, Jeana, Jo, Lauri and newcomer Tammy , all face the camera without a hint of self-consciousness, happily parading their lifestyles of excess as if everyone in America lives that way. All the housewives are the main breadwinners and all work really hard to make the money in their families, you definitely can't take that away from them. The husbands and ex-husbands are portrayed as the weak links in the relationships as far as money making and child rearing go. The exception to this rule is Slade , Jo's on again off again boyfriend/fiance. He makes the money and Jo spends it.
The Housewives all have great cars, expensive clothes (although their clothing choices leave a lot to be desired) big, big houses in a gated community and botox on demand. They work hard and party hard, and lead a fascinating life. One of the best aspects of this show is that regular problems with teenagers and day to day living are not ignored, enabling the viewer to relate to the Housewives on some levels. For a reality TV show, this one delivers an entertaining hour of almost total escapism. Real Housewives of Orange County airs tonight on Bravo at 10pm.
