Oprah Gets Daddy to Zip it

I would have loved to have been a fly on the wall when Oprah called her father, Vernon Winfrey, to question him about the memoir rumors. As we told you yesterday, Oprah was said to be 'shocked' when she learned from Page Six that Mr. Winfrey was penning "Things Unspoken" about his daughter. Today, TV Guide is reporting that the book is officially 'on hold".

Vernon Winfrey, who still runs a Nashville barbershop, told TV Guide in an exclusive interview. "There is no book," he says, denying reports that he's been peddling a memoir titled Things Unspoken. "We might think about it later on," he went on to say. If he does decide to do it "later," Vernon's not sure if he'd want to collaborate with Oprah, whose book-club efforts have helped sell millions of copies of the works featured on her show. "Well, I don't know," says Vernon. "We have to decide."
When Vernon was pressed as to if Oprah herself talked him out of writing the book, he got a bit defensive saying,

"It's just on hold right now, OK?"
Ok, Ok. Geesh. I bet he got paid off.

Oprah's Daddy to Pen a Tell-All

Oprah Winfrey's father is said to be writing a book dishing about all things Oprah called "Things Unspoken" and apparently, Oprah had no idea. The Daily News called her to get a comment and she says she was blind sided because it was the first she had heard about it and added that she is "shocked" and "disappointed".

"One of my assistants said, 'The Daily News is calling. They say they heard your father is writing a book about you.' I said, 'That's impossible. I can assure them it's not true.' But then my sister said, 'I think you should call your father.' I called him and it turned out he is writing a book. The worst part of it was him saying, 'I meant to tell you I've been working on it.'  The last person in the world to be doing a book about me is Vernon Winfrey," O added. "The last person."
She sounds totally shocked for sure. I wonder if she is worried about anything he might write about? I think I'll be reading this one for sure!

Is Jen Pulling an Angelina?

I'm not sure how much I believe this story, it seems that 99% of the crap written about Jennifer Aniston turns out to be false. The latest, being reported by Life&Style, is that Jen has had a 'heart-to-heart' with best friend Courtney Cox and as a result, has decided to adopt a baby.
"Jen's not adopting right now", her rep insists, before adding, "she doesn't rule out the possibility in the future." But according to the pal, "It could be weeks, not months, before Jen becomes a mother. She's meeting with adoption lawyers, and she's telling everyone to get ready -- it's going to happen soon!"
Again, I'm not sure how much I believe this story and I'm sure we will get a big fat denial tomorrow via People Magazine or Oprah. And although her rep doesn't fully deny it, I seriously doubt Aniston, knowing how much is written about her, would be 'telling everyone', this would probably be kept on the down low. I just hope that if she does adopt, she names it something we can all spell and pronounce.

Miss USA says "NO!" to Oprah!!

Miss USA, Tara Conner, says "no" to Oprah and "yes" to the Today show and Tonight show with Jay Leno reports TMZ.com.

Tara does not want to share the stage with Donald Trump and others, which she would have to do if she appears on Oprah, and she probably doesn't want to have to put up with hearing another outburst from Trump about how great he is for giving her a second chance. The interview with Today would be all about her. It will be her first post-rehab interview. She has also agreed to appear on Jay Leno.

Apparently there is also a fight brewing with pageant organizers over which entertainment magazine Tara will be allowed to appear on. The TV shows should concentrate their story on the fight for Tara's story. I'm sure it's going to be more interesting that "I went out and got drunk because I'm a stupid 20yr old and then Mr Trump forgave me". I'd love to find out more about the internal politics of beauty pageants, I'm sure it's more cut throat than running for President.

Barack Obama in '08?

Democratic Illinois Senator Barack Obama put an end to speculation about whether or not he was interested in being the Democratic nominee in 2008 by announcing on Tuesday that he had established an exploratory committee for a presidential run.
Obama's popularity over the last year has skyrocketed. He has charm, charisma and is an incredible public speaker with broad appeal. His experience, or lack there of, Obama is only 2 years into his first term in the Senate, is going to be one of his hurdles. That and the fact that he would be this country's first African American president. Is America ready? I, for one, would certainly like to think that we would vote based on the issues and not on race but that remains to be seen. Obama has a long road ahead of him before he gets to that point.
On his website Tuesday, Obama stated "Today, our leaders in Washington seem incapable of working together in a practical, common-sense way."
Can he do it? He is going to need to move quickly as John Edwards is beginning to attract endorsements and if Hillary Clinton decides to run, her fundraising efforts will have her rolling in the money overnight. We will soon see just how far his rock-star status will carry him.

On a lighter note, did you see him and his wife on Oprah? He was fantastic and if that appearance didn't scream "I'm going to run!", I don't know what would have!
